Hello brothers and sisters and Heartdwellers family.
So, as Jesus instructed, I will be doing some teachings these next few messages and also sharing about the experiences we had during each prayer meeting. We had about 6 sessions of different groups who came wanting to really connect with the Lord and desired the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
At first, I was a bit nervous going into the meeting, because the Lord had given us no direction besides that it would be an opportunity for the Holy Spirit to move like in the day of Pentecost; but we weren’t sure on how to lead the meeting. The first meeting, the Lord decided to use them to stir up the gifts in one another instead of us. We came with an idea in mind we put together right before the meeting – and during the meeting, the Holy Spirit did something totally different.
As one of the sisters began praying in the Spirit and another brother began to interpret her tongues; and this continued on throughout the first part of the meeting. Where we thought we should teach, the Holy Spirit wanted us praying. So we did and He moved. During our prophetic exercises, many saw Jesus and received a word of knowledge for others in the room. It was a wonderful to see the Holy Spirit move just as he said He would. Each meeting was different.
Many received the baptism of the Holy Spirit with speaking in tongues, healings took place, deliverance took place and more importantly; each meeting our brethren were encouraged and inspired to step out to use their gifts and to continue to water it.
However, there were many of the same questions or concerns that kept arising in each meeting, and we realized there was some error that had been taught among the group which caused many to fear the gift of tongues among others things. Which I will be addressing in the following messages.
There were some who already spoke in tongues but wanted to be prayed for over again because they didn’t believe their prayer language to be true, because of their own doubts, and many more because someone had told them their tongues were demonic (which we were very surprised about..) Some said it was because it sounded weird, another said her face ‘moved in weird ways’ when she spoke in tongues so it was demonic and when she spoke in regular tongues, she ‘didn’t move her face’. Not realizing in scripture, it talks about having the gift of different types of tongues. And so we told her that and addressed that.
Another brother mentioned in a different prayer service, they had laid hands and prayed for a member to receive the gift of tongues, and the person started convulsing and speaking in tongues and they ‘knew that it was demonic’. I told him that was deliverance taking place and the person was manifesting, but they did not receive the gift of tongues because tongues given from the Lord can never be demonic tongues.
Then another had been delivered from oppression, where she was easily irritated by worship music and also scorned the move of the Holy Spirit during her prayer meetings. Then she had a Pastor tell her, her tongues were demonic because of her former oppression, so she stopped praying altogether. She said she didn’t know how to pray with words, so because of it, she hasn’t prayed in months and feels so distant from the Lord. I then reminded everyone at the meeting that it’s so important to test the fruit. Because of that one word given by a Pastor and confirmed by her friend who was at the meeting; this lady hadn’t prayed for months. Which means that word given was not from the Lord. It didn’t bare good fruit in her walk with Jesus – rather, pulled her away.
Hearing all of this, I could smell the enemies fingerprints. We took each group through scripture, helping them to understand first the gift of the Holy Spirit and their identity in Christ. So can a Christians have demonic tongues?
First thing is you have to understand who you are in Christ. When you give your life to Jesus, He comes and dwells in your heart; you become one with Him.
1 Corinthians 6:16
But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
So you see, Christ dwells within you and the scripture says: “Every good and perfect gift comes from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change” James 1:7
So there is no darkness in the gifts that God gives us, they are Holy. The gift of tongues comes from the Holy Spirit and is one of the many gifts he distributes amongst the Body of Christ.
1 Corinthians 12:4-11 says-
Here are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.
7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another, gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and He distributes them to each one, just as He determines.
1 Corinthians 14:2
Or anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit. And Paul goes on to say verse 5 I would like every one of you to speak in tongues.
Now it’s clear through scripture, that the gift of tongues is not demonic but a gift given to us by God in a language that only He can understand and allows us to utter mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven by the spirit. And Paul declared in that time he wishes all believers to speak in tongues.
Jesus has also made it clear to us as we speak in tongues we are endowed with Heavenly revelation, wisdom and discernment concerting situations and circumstances. We also will be given supernatural instructions on what to do and that He desires all His Brides would walk in this gift, because it will be most necessary for the end times.
That is why Satan hates it so much – it’s a language that he and his demons cannot understand. It’s a language of the Angels and bypasses our mind and intellect to pray directly to Heaven, the will of God. And that is why he will do all manner of things to cause believers to be fearful of such a powerful gift not only that but to blaspheme the Holy Spirit by calling something holy, evil.
So now that we have laid a foundation concerning the gift of tongues – can a believer rather speak in demonic tongues?
We must first understand that Satan cannot create anything, all he does is steal and duplicate. There is such a thing as demonic tongues but it comes from demons; as they use this to mimic the gifts of the Holy Spirit. I once had a dream where an officer stopped me and was trying to stop me from following Jesus. The officer began to mock me and laugh at me, then proceeded to speak in a demonic tongue. I woke up and knew it was a spiritual warfare dream and I prayed.
Demonic tongues comes from the demonic, not from God and cannot come out of a believer filled with the Holy Spirit. The only time a manifestation of demonic tongues can come out of a person who has professed to be a Christian; is if there is a demonic possession and the person is manifesting. Demonic possession is when a demonic spirit, or demon, has gained a stronghold within a persons soul and inhabits their body, so there will many or all types of demonic manifestations that will confirm a demonic possession.
Speaking in tongues also brings great deliverance to yourself, those you’re praying for, and even within the area in which you’re praying. Powerful things happen when you pray in tongues. So you may be praying in tongues and you began to burp, cough profusely, even throw up; or the person you’re praying for manifests these things. Do not let that startle you or cause you to think your tongues is evil – but what is happening is deliverance that is taking place.
Some have confused the manifestation of deliverance as a demonic thing, so then they see the gift of speaking in tongues as demonic as well. No no no, don’t believe that lie the enemy is feeding you. You are rather being delivered and these manifestations is evidence that you speaking in tongues is very effective.
During the prayer meeting, many belched profusely and even spit up. None of the members were possessed they just had been ill informed through ignorance or fear from a Pastor or another Christian who heard their tongue and immediately said it was demonic.
Speaking in tongues is a language and not one tongue is the same, because it’s a unique Heavenly language given to each individual by the Holy Spirit for the purposes of communicating with God. That is why it’s so important you do not compare your tongue, or rather judge some else’s tongue as being demonic because it doesn’t sound similar to yours, or anyone else you know; its not meant to.
You see the enemy will cause many believers to doubt, to be fearful, to question and to cast judgment on such a gift from the Holy Spirit, to hinder many Christians from being empowered by this gift.
If you have fallen prey to this lie or oppression of the devil concerting the fear of the gift of tongues, or fear that you have demonic tongues; please pray this prayer with me –
Father, in the name of Jesus I renounce every fear that comes with the gift that You want to give me, in speaking in tongues. I reject the enemies lies and voices of others who have spoken this error. I know you are good and you only give good gifts.
Jesus I open my heart to your Holy Spirit to come in and to fill my mind with Your truth. I give you full reign over my body and faculties and to loose my tongue freely to speak in my Heavenly language.
In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
God bless you family, until the next message.
