I shared with you family in the previous message how I had a big disagreement with my beloved and how I was licking my wounds because of it. The following morning we gathered together for our community Lord’s Supper and we always get a reading from the St. Francis Omnibus to hear what He also has to tell us or what direction he has to give the community.
The reading began,
Now it chanced one day, as St Francis was praying in the forest, that a handsome young man, dressed for traveling, presented himself at the convent-gate, knocking so loudly, so quickly, and so long, that the brothers marvelled greatly at a way of knocking so strange and unusual. Brother Masseo, who went and opened the gate, thus addressed the young man: "Where are you coming from, my son? for the strange manner in which thou knock makes me to think you have never been here before." At this the young man asked: "How then should I knock?" Brother Masseo answered: “You should give three knocks, one after the other, and then wait time enough for a brother to say an Our Father,' and come and open the door; should he not arrive by that time, then you may knock again." "I was in great haste," replied the stranger; "for I have made a long journey, and am come to speak with St Francis, who at this hour is praying in the forest, therefore I would not interrupt him. I pray then, to call Brother Elias; for I wish to put a question to him, having heard that he is full of wisdom."
Then Brother Masseo going, called Brother Elias; but he, being angry, refused to go, so that Brother Masseo was at a loss as to what to tell the stranger. For if he told him Brother Elias could not wait on him, he would say an untruth; while if he told how he spoke in anger, he feared to give scandal. Whilst Brother Masseo was hesitating how he should act, whether or no he should return with the message, the stranger knocked again as he had knocked before. On this Brother Masseo hastened back to the convent-gate, and said reproachfully: “you have not observed what I said to you as to how thou should knock." To this the young man made answer: "Since Brother Elias will not come to me, go, tell Brother Francis that I came here to speak with him; but, not wishing to interrupt his prayers, I beg him to order Brother Elias to come to me."
Then Brother Masseo went to St Francis, who was praying in the forest with his eyes lifted up to heaven, and gave him the message of the young man, with the answer of Brother Elias. Now the young man was the angel of God, under the form of a traveller. St Francis, without moving and still looking up to heaven, said to Brother Masseo: "Go, tell Brother Elias, in virtue of holy obedience, to go and speak with that young man." So Brother Elias, having received the order of St Francis, went to the convent-gate in an angry mood, and opening it with violence, asked of the young man what he wanted with Him. The latter answered: "Beware of being angry, as you appear to be; for anger wounds the soul, preventing it from discerning the truth.
"Brother Elias said again: "Tell me what thou want with me." "I wish to know," answered the stranger, "if it be permitted to follow the Holy Gospel to eat whatever is served before you, according to the words of Christ to his disciples; and I wish to ask you, likewise, if it be lawful for any man to teach a doctrine contrary to the freedom preached in the Gospel.
"On this Brother Elias answered proudly: "I know the answer to this, but I am not inclined to give it to you. Be gone about your business. "The young man replied: "I know better than you the answer to this questions. "Then was Brother Elias much troubled; and, being very angry, he slammed the door, and went his way. But afterwards, considering the questions which had been put to him, he doubted within himself whether he could answer them; for being Vicar of the Order, he had made a law which went beyond that of the Gospel, and passed the Rule of St Francis: to wit, that none of the brethren should eat meat; so that the question was put expressly against himself. Not knowing in what way to clear his doubts, and being struck by the modest appearance of the young stranger, remembering also how he had said that he could answer the questions better than himself, he hurried back to the convent-gate in hopes of finding him. But he had disappeared, for the pride of Brother Elias made him unworthy to converse with an angel.
In the meantime St Francis, to whom all had been revealed by God, returning from the forest, addressed himself reproachfully to Brother Elias, saying: “You have done wrong, proud Brother Elias; for you have sent away the holy angel of God, who came to instruct us. I tell you that I greatly fear your pride will make the end your days out of the Order." And so it happened even as St Francis said, for he died out of the Order.
The same day and the same hour at which the angel had disappeared from the convent-gate, he appeared to Brother Bernard, who was making his way homewards from San Giacomo, along the bank of a great river. The angel, clad in the same guise as a traveller, greeted him with the words, "God give thee peace, good brother." Now Brother Bernard, considering the beauty of the young man, who with so sweet a look pronounced the salutation of peace, according to the custom of his own country, asked of him whence he came. "I come," answered the angel, "from the convent where dwells St Francis. I went there to speak with him, but to do so I was not able, for he was in the forest contemplating divine things, and I would not disturb him. In the same convent were Brother Giles, and Brother Elias, with Brother Masseo, who taught me how to knock at the convent-gate according to the custom of the brethren. Brother Elias would not answer the questions I put to him; but afterwards he repented, seeking to see and hear me; but it was too late."
So for me immediately, I was very convicted. I was Brother Elias, It resonated with me because I had allowed my anger and pride to get a foothold, to wound my soul and therefore not able to discern truth as well and I had a strong conviction already that I had grieved the Holy Spirit, I found out that today was the feast day of Pentecost. So I immediately called my beloved in front of the whole community and I apologized to him and the community for my attitude that affected them all the day before because of my anger. They all graciously accepted my apology and I realized how serious our emotions and attitudes can affect the whole community and even close up heaven from visiting us. Lord, have mercy.
So I came before the Lord. Lord I’m here [you’re a hot mess]. St. Francis reading was so convicting. I had felt that I had dropped the ball in my attitude and emotions and that it had quenched the Holy Spirit for sure, now after the reading even driving out the angles, geez louise, makes me shudder especially in a community. I don’t want the angels to leave, we need every bit of their assistance.
Jesus what’s on your heart?
Jesus began,
“Today is the day of Pentecost Beloved, and I had in store for you and the community many graces and many anointing’s but because of your attitude yesterday you didn’t rightly prepare the community or yourself for it.”
And it’s true Lord. Today was the day of Pentecost. Lord I’m sorry this is so disheartening.
“But My Mercy always reigns supreme, I will not withhold My blessings, My anointing and graces from you, Beloved. Come here… [I saw Jesus with His arms open and I just laid my head on His chest] And He said…There, there rest on my heart My beloved spouse. Find healing and joy again in My service not only for yourself but healing and joy in the service towards others. I know you were badly injured yesterday you couldn’t think or see clearly past your pain, but now you do, you see the power of being in My presence and before Me in the Eucharist.”
Lord, I even fell asleep during my adoration. I’m so sorry for that.
“Well, it matters not your state before Me as long as you are before Me. I can do great things and now there is peace between you too and again peace reigning in the community because of it. I want to speak to you of the importance of being a peacemaker and walking in brotherly love in a community even when you’re injured. It’s oh so important. Married life is difficult already and then living in a community brings another part of blessing and pressure. This is not just for the married couples, I call to community but all souls whom I call to live in community. Your actions good and bad, your sins and your service affects the entire community. The same goes for those in a family it also has the same effect that is why showing grace, forgiving and being a peacemaker even when it costs you is so important. The enemy of your soul is always seeking an entrance, not only bring in his minions but to drive out the angels that come to your aid and help you to live in harmony in My will and in brotherly love. Hence that is why David said in Psalm 133. How good and pleasing it is for brothers to dwell together in unity it is like the oil running down from Aaron beard.
“Unity carries anointing. Especially as a mother of a community you have to be watchful of this beloved. Mother Clare and Father Ezekiel have had their share of pain caused in the community when her and father are not in agreement or at odds. Many times one yields to the other to cause harmony and forward movement of the community despite how they are feeling.”
Very true Lord I’ve seen that several times with Father especially.
“Yes because Mother Clare is called to shepherd the community and needs a clear mind not one filled with emotions to do it. That goes for you too Beloved, you must be the peacemaker in every situation even with your children. When you have to correct, do so but keep the peace do not hold anything against them. Do not carry resentment or bitterness into the next day or give anyone the silent treatment or distance because they did not adhere to your instructions or even injured you. You must uphold brotherly love, always beloved. It’s at My bosom you let your tears, your frustrations, your complaints, your fears and your injures be known and received. There you will find healing and also rest.
“Angels are assigned many times to churches, communities and families and when the assignment of division come they do their part to fight on your behalf the onslaught of demons that have infiltrated that you cannot see. The victory is in your response and reaction. When one acts in pride and anger it drives away the angels and drive in the demons instead. Angels bring assistance in prayer, blessings, aid, messages and protection. When they are driven out your covering is lifted and so is your aid, blessings and any messages or instructions you were to receive. Pride and anger block all of that. You cannot think or even see clearly. It stifles the soul and stops all forward thinking especially in a community. It brings paralysis and stagnation. Did you not notice that yesterday?
“It impeded much of what you wanted to do that day and if not caught and continues on to the next day it would have affected you even more. It affects the atmosphere, brings tension in the air and dampens any move of My spirit greatly not just for the soul who fell but upon the entire community. This I will allow more and more often to get the attention the community if necessary. My loving and steady gaze is upon you all and I won’t allow any of you to go far in anger or pride or in any sin for that matter. I want this place to be an example to outsiders so when you feel the feeling of My presence gone, the atmosphere heavy or tensed then all of you will know pride and anger has gotten a foot hold and needs to be dealt with immediately. There will be many visitations from angels as well that is why I share with you to love your neighbor and be good to those who hurt you.”
Then the thought came to my mind. Lord, will the angels cause us to sin? I meant that because He said there will be visitations form the angels and I’m thinking will they wound us or injure us with a bad attitude I don’t know but I wanted to ask.
Hebrew 13:2 Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.
“No Beloved, no one can cause you to sin but yourself. At times I will send angels to test you and test the communities virtue. So be patient, be kind to one another and any stranger that comes no matter how difficult and do not allow pride and anger to get a foot hold.”
Oh Lord, please help me and help us. I see this rising up in me like never before.
“Because there is an infection spend more time with Me before my Eucharistic face Beloved and I will heal it, fortifying you for the trials ahead of you and the community. I leave you now with all the blessings from Pentecost. Receive more of My spirit, receive My glory and receive more of My anointing for you and all the community members and for all My brides.”
That was the end of Jesus message.
This message was given to us on the feast day of Pentecost. God bless you family until the next message.
