What Love

T he host is the heart of Jesus, given into the hands of the priest. When the spear of the Roman soldier Longinus pierced the heart of Jesus and blood and water flowed out of it.

Similarly, the hands of the priest are also the spear of Longinus. When the host is broken, the heart of Jesus is broken.

By this, and at such moments, grace is poured out in the form of blood and water for all into the chalice. Lamb of God, you who take away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us. Lamb of God, you who take away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us your peace.

That is the love of God, the love of Jesus, that He gives His heart into the hands of priests to be broken in communion, from which mercy flows for all people. From which mercy flows for all. Isn't that love? Have you received his love today?
