One Way Jesus Emptied Himself

February 23, 2026

Hello everyone. Since I joined the Heartdweller family, I've been exposed to the teachings of the saints and to messages that Jesus has given the Heartdwellers about emptying oneself. I really do not understand, how Jesus emptied himself and how we should imitate it.

But there's one thing I did because I knew it was important. I asked the Lord regularly to empty me. Many times I've asked Jesus that if I'm truly a vessel in His household and I'm in His hands as a vessel; I've told Him, I've given Him the content to turn me upside down and pour out of me any contents that is not of His. This is a very good prayer. But I've come to learn that Jesus however desires us to also intentionally identify anything undesirable in us and empty ourselves.

We can ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to us and if we are sincere He is faithful as long as we will be obedient. Some of the stuff that we need to empty ourselves of is not sinful, but the Lord just wants them out of us for Hown purposes. So this is not an easy process. It's a painful process, but it's part of our sanctification. Remember the Lord wants sanctified vessels, holy vessels. I'll read the scripture here.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 "And may the God of peace himself sanctify you through and through, separate you from profane things make you pure, holy, consecrated to God, and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved, sound, and complete, and found blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus has been emptying me a lot. Emptying me of my opinions, culture, worldliness that I never thought I had. Selfish ambitions, pride, self-righteousness, and many other stuff. I'm still working in progress. Recently I read an online article on emptying oneself. I love, I love any article about emptying oneself that is inspired. I love reading them. They're very redeeming. I'm going to quote what I read online. This what it says that Jesus emptied himself of many things. Remember Jesus lived with His father, our father since eternity.

He emptied himself of independent authority. He quotes John 5:30 where Jesus said, "I can do nothing on my own." Jesus brought himself into a different leadership with the father where all His activities and actions here on earth had to be cleared in that unusual way. Though equal to the father now uniquely submissive to him. Did you hear that?

He brought himself into a different lordship with the father where all of His activities and actions had to be cleared in that unusual way. Yes, Jesus did nothing without His father's permission. He subjected everything to His father. I heard somebody talking about Jesus' miraculous healing of the man paralyzed for 38 years at the pool of Bethseda in Jerusalem.

This speaker said that he believes that Jesus would have healed everybody that was at that pool waiting for a miracle. But you know His father sent him there to just heal one person.

One person. So how how can we emulate this? How can we learn from Jesus by subjecting all our actions, our days to Jesus Christ? He's our master. He's our lord.

We need to. From the time we wake up until we go to bed, the decisions we make, the things we do, how much of it is approved by Jesus Christ. Some are not sinful, many are not sinful, but is it what He wants us to do? So this is one way of emptying ourselves by putting aside our self-will in every area of our life and surrendering to the will of Jesus Christ. May the Lord grant us this grace by Spirit that was upon Jesus. And may we learn to completely empty ourselves of all self-will.

May our flesh be truly crucified at the cross so that the words of the Apostle Paul may come true in us. I've been crucified with Christ that is in Him. I've shared His crucifixion. It is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me. The life I live now in the body I live by faith by adhering to, relying on and completely trusting in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

Is That You Lord?
