The Weapon Of Silence

Hello Family. I continue sharing with you the contents of my journal during my 21 days of Fasting & Solitude. In this post, I share with you my thoughts on the 8th day. The Lord is working deeply and quietly: working in my soul. Every sort of surgery has been done in my soul to repair, cut off infections, clean old festering wounds, and stitch: a painful process, sometimes, but necessary for my soul.

Guys, it is possible to survive and be happy without our phones, social media, breaking news, and entertainment. This is a time the Lord is flushing out all the Spiritual filth I have been accumulating. We know how to take care of our flesh, but the majority of us don’t know, or are even concerned to care for our souls.

I believe it's spiritually healthy for a soul to find time regularly away from everything and everyone and just spend time with heaven. We go to the doctor for check-ups. Do we go to Jesus, the Physician of our souls, for a check-up?

You were like sheep that continually wandered away, but now you have returned to the true Shepherd of your lives—the kind Guardian who lovingly watches over your souls. (1 Peter 2:29)

The silence in Solitude sobers you to what is really important. The Lord, by His Spirit, helps you to really see who you are first without God and then with God.

In the past, I have achieved much in my life, and many times we think it's all by our ability. Looking back, I now know the Lord is the performer; we are just vessels. Let's be humble and give God praise and Glory truly due to Him.

I have always thought of myself as a considerably good person, but the lord is revealing to me who I am, really, without His grace—an abyss of misery. I am really appreciating the Cross and what the Cross did for me.

Unfortunately, for many of us Christians, the world has swallowed us. The spirit of the world is controlling us. But we don’t even realize it. Let us ask ourselves simple questions. Why do you live in the neighborhood you are living in? What influences your mode of dressing, the world, or Jesus? Whom do you fellowship with and why? The decisions and choices we make about our children: are they influenced by Jesus or the world? Who really possesses your heart? These are sobering questions.

I have had to ask myself very difficult questions. I have even questioned some relationships I still entertain in my life. It’s time to detach. I am asking Jesus to remove anyone or anything in my life that hinders my fellowship with Him.

Hebrews 12:1-3

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.,

Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up."

You know, we are in a race. I wonder how many of us wake up each morning knowing that we are in a race. Are we prepared? Because you can’t enter the race without being prepared for the race. Do we know that we’re in a race? Do we even qualify to be in this race? Do we have the stamina, the endurance to finish the race? We need to meditate on these things so that we look for the grace that we need to really finish this race.

In my readings and Meditations, from Mother Faustina’s Diary, I read a very interesting passage;

Mother Faustina began,

"Silence is a sword in the spiritual struggle. A talkative soul will never attain sanctity. The sword of silence will cut off everything that would like to cling to the soul. We are sensitive to words and quickly want to answer back, without taking any regard as to whether it is God's will that we should speak. A silent soul is strong; no adversities will harm it if it perseveres in silence. The silent soul is capable of attaining the closest union with God. It lives almost always under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. God works in a silent soul without hindrance."

You know, a few days after I came out from my solitude, because I had developed this being alone and being silent, my wife, Mother Caroline, was very uneasy. She kept asking me, “Why are you quiet? why are you silent? is everything okay? She was not used to it. But there is a way the world will want you to start speaking and talking. I really need to work hard to guard this grace that the Lord taught me and how important it is.

So, Jesus, grant us the grace to silence the turmoil and Storms brewing in us and around us, so that we may influence our surroundings with Calmness and peace, no matter the storm and turmoil in the world.

Family, be blessed, and may we abide in Christ.
