Prayer Day 70 Her 70th son: Prayer Against A Spirit Of Stupor

What does it mean to be in a state of stupor?

• A state of impaired consciousness, or slumber

• To be lethargic, sluggish, or dormant physically, spiritually or emotionally

• To be stunned, as if with a narcotic; shocked

• Bewildered, as if struck

• To be in a slothful, unenthusiastic, or negligent state

• Spiritual dryness, hardness, insensitivity

(Rom 11:7, Isaiah 6:10)

The potential impact caused by the operation of a demonic principality is very real, not imagined. The Bible gives examples of how a demonic spirit’s presence can affect a person physically, mentally, and emotionally:

• Physically: The disabled woman in

Luke chapter 13:10

• Mentally: The demoniac in Mark 5:1-14

• Emotionally: King Saul distressed by a demon in 1 Sam. 16:14-23

Why is it important to understand?

• Yielding to stupor can lead to a pattern of retreating from conflict, resulting in a lifestyle of passivity and defeat.

• A hardened, calloused heart loses its ability to feel. The result in blocking out both painful and joyful emotions and the ability to feel the presence of God

• A hardening of heart or spiritual apathy can lead to unbelief or falling away from the faith

• A hardened heart can manifest as pride, stubbornness and/or rebellion

Examples in scripture of hardening of heart, possibly influenced by the spirit of Stupor that seeks to confuse, delay and obstruct the plans of God or ones destiny or purpose.

• The parable of the Prodigal Son can be used as an example. In this parable, a man had two sons, one of whom asked is father for his inheritance his father was still living. Because he did no work to earn this gift, he failed to truly appreciate its value. Therefore, he soon squandered it all and was left with nothing.

• Parable of the Wise and foolish maidens; the five who were foolish didn’t take enough olive oil for their lamps. Matthew 25:3

• The Parable of the Sower who sowed on four types of ground.

o Hard ground, one hardened by sin or pride, plucked by Satan, preventing the Word from making an impression

o Stony ground one who has a shallow understanding or (apathy, lack of

o Thorny ground: one who seems to understand but whose heart is filled with riches, pleasures and things of the world (fails to treasure the gifts of God)

o Good ground; one who receives and applies the Word of God to fulfill his purpose

The same can be true for the gifts that we get from God, whether it be a talent, a calling, or a destiny, those who do not appreciate the value and fail to properly use, cherish or protect the gifts given, are likely to have them taken away.

REPENTANCE

Repent for any agreement you’ve made with apathy or complacency.

• Renounce the spirit of slumber, and every power assigned to dull your spiritual senses.

• Stir yourself up in prayer, in the Word, and in worship.

• Ask the Holy Spirit to reignite your fire and renew your urgency.

• Get back on the wall. Resume your watch. Refuse to hit the snooze button on destiny. This is your moment to shake yourself loose and step back into divine alignment. Don’t let the spirit of slumber delay you another day.

Prayer: Father, I repent for every moment I allowed apathy, passivity, or distraction to pull me out of position. I break agreement with the spirit of slumber in Jesus’ name. I declare I am wide awake, alert, and discerning. Reignite the fire in my spirit. Restore my passion for Your presence. Help me to watch and pray with urgency and accuracy. I will not sleep through my assignment. I will not miss my moment. I shake off every trace of spiritual sleep, and I arise to stand in my rightful place. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Decree

I decree I am spiritually awake and alert. I shake off the spirit of slumber and step into divine momentum. I watch, I pray, I move with urgency. I will not miss my moment. My destiny will not be delayed.
