The City of God Building Project: Phase 1-Complete

Hello, brothers and sisters and heart dwellers family I am excited to share with you our journey to complete phase 1 of the City of God building project in preparation to raise money for phase 2.

Because of your generous donations, we received our goal for the campaign and then some a few months ago. We were finally able to get a ministry vehicle. A Toyota Hilux truck we named Humble, to remind us of our humble beginnings. Upon purchasing the truck we began to have so many issues with the engine and different things we had to fix, which was an additional cost. We also completed our title purchase and now have 10 acres of the 100-acre land given to Heartdwellers Africa to build the City of God community. Yay, the land is finally legally ours! Then, surprisingly, the Lord told us to begin farming.

I thought to myself, ‘Farming, Lord? Why not begin to build?’ But I had no idea that we had much land preparation to do before building, and it was very costly. Another thing is that it allows time for Father Derrick and me to grow in the same vision concerning this work and the community. I had no idea that secretly, Father Derrick always wanted to be a farmer, since the age of 14. So, he was so elated when he found out that this was the Lord’s will.

We initially thought to farm on our land right away but decided to begin backyard farming just to get started and to learn, as we wait to raise more money to clear the land. We purchased farming supplies; a drip irrigation setup, crop covers, plastic mulch for 5 acres of land—then insect nets, buckets, and our own makeshift water tank.

Also, because of the vastness of the land which we had to choose from we had to be strategic in where we would position ourselves for the purpose of the community and the farming when we begin to build. Hence, we needed a drone survey to have an understanding of the topography of the area to help us better plan, so we paid for that too.

The Lord, being so good and showing us favor as we began this journey, we didn’t know where to start. Father Derrick chanced on a YouTube channel with a local, young, popular farmer being interviewed and his number was actually in the description. Father Derrick felt led to call it and the guy picked up just having arrived back to Ghana at the airport when he called. He met up with us the following day as I prayed that the Lord would show us favor. Now this gentleman and his agronomist are fully on board to help us with any farming initiative with Heartdwellers Africa. #hushjesushush.

In this video you will see us at a garden festival we were invited to attend. You will also see the land from my father’s side, 666 acres, that we have available to farm as well. However, we felt the Lord calling us to lay that land aside until later. We got an opportunity to nurse our seeds and failed miserably with the majority of them dying before we went on our mission trip to India. So we had to start all over again and finally were successful as we transplanted the budding plants just about five weeks ago. Eeek! I can’t wait until three months from now to show you guys our veggies. We plan on consuming some here at home and the rest sharing with our local neighbors for free. Thank you again, family, for sharing in this vision, being a part of our story, and coming on this journey with us as we continue to build the City of God community.

We are still in need of much [in the way of] donations to continue this work and to prepare the land. Our donations have been very low for the last two months and we could use your support. Any donation amount helps. You can now send a money order or check to: Heartdwellers Ghana, PO Box 4050 Trenton NJ 08610. Or you can pay quickly and easily via PayPal at the link below in the description. The next video will be our Phase 2, GoFundMe campaign video as we now raise money to finally clear the land and create roads. Thank you again so much for your support!
