What Is In Your Foundation Day 6

Updated: Oct 7, 2024

Chapter 6

You are reading this because you want to live an overcoming life. Like God’s friend Abraham, you too can possess your possessions and walk in the blessings of your inheritance as a child of the living God. You can live a life free from demonic bondages both at the personal level and in terms of your ancestral roots, liberated from the bondage of your father’s house. This kind of life will testify daily about the goodness of the Lord.

This is not only possible but it is promised. Here are the other promises of that life.

  1. You have been given mighty weapons to destroy strongholds and to even take thoughts captive.

  2. You can tread upon all the serpents and scorpions of the enemy without negative consequences.

  3. You can also drink deadly poison without repercussion.

  4. Your life will become a mighty weapon in the hands of the Lord of Hosts to wield as He wills.

  5. Your life will be a testimony that glorifies the Lord Jesus and His Father.

You have been given control of your life to freely choose to surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and enjoy the abundant overcoming of life. This surrendered life is a process that involves ongoing purification. What is the goal?… “You shall be perfect just as your Father in heaven is perfect” (Mat. 5:48). The Lord will purify the vessel of everything foreign so that he can occupy and use it without any hindrance. He does this in stages…progressively. Some chains break before others so that the vessel itself does not fall apart. He will gently lead you as a loving shepherd. Who is He leading? ‘Sheep’-who understand and submit to the Lord Jesus as the Good Shepherd.

Purification may sometimes require fire, pain, or persecution. Again, the goal is not to make us suffer but rather to remove the impurities in our lives and purify them. Trusting our good shepherd will be essential. You are invited as an active and willing participant in this journey. The Lord Jesus, your partner, will show you confirmations that he is working in you in your life but will not be giving you all the details. There is the element of ‘faith walk’ and he will not force you if you are not willing to go further.

Purify your evil foundations.

Although all sins have consequences, there are some that God has noted as especially dangerous. According to God’s righteous decree, anyone committing those sins is to die. Some of these are without doubt very much a part of today’s culture but spiritually speaking, such simple acts as cursing one’s parents are a violation of one of God’s commandments. Offenses such as stealing items dedicated to God were met with death to the offending party and their entire family, in the Old Testament. If you think that it’s just an Old Covenant, I dare you to take off the religious, theological filters and look at 1 Jn 5:16NKJV.

16 If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I do not say that he should pray about that.

This sin has special significance for our future generations. If left unresolved, they will corrupt our foundations.

Psa. 11:1-3NKJV shows the vulnerability of even the righteous with faulty or broken foundations.

1 In the Lord I put my trust;

How can you say to my soul,

“Flee as a bird to your mountain”?

2For, look! The wicked bend their bow,

They make ready their arrow on the string,

That they may shoot secretly at the upright in heart.

3If the foundations are destroyed,

What can the righteous do?

Evil foundations

The following are ways that we build evil foundations whether intentionally or unintentionally, and whether consciously or subconsciously.

  1. Consulting witch doctors, fortune-tellers, or other spiritual mediums, no matter how harmless or innocent the intent.

  2. Divorcing one’s spouse is also a foundation.

Mal 2:16 NKJV

“For the Lord God of Israel says

That He hates divorce,

For it covers one’s garment with violence,”

Says the Lord of hosts.

“Therefore take heed to your spirit,

That you do not deal treacherously.”

  1. Shedding of innocent blood

  2. Covenanting with Satan (selling your soul for success, fame, and wealth)

  3. Seeking power or help from evil entities.

  4. Injustice to widows and orphans

Abominations like abortions, acts of homosexuality, perversion, and incest are all symptoms of faulty foundations.

Time and distance are factored differently in the spiritual realm. Sin has no statute of limitations or expiry date. Whatever has taken place in our lives remains active regardless of when and where they were committed. This means that the evil committed by or to our ancestors remains in force even today if we do not deal with them. God promised to visit the sins of parents to their children up to the third or fourth generation. And even after that, satan has legal ground to keep their descendants in bondage.

Spiritual Foundation Tokens

  1. Blood

We are made of blood. Therefore foundations are built with blood. It is covenanted by blood and is atoned for by blood.

Blood carries both natural nutrients and spiritual codes. The fact that you carry your parent’s DNA means that you also carry their spiritual baggage. The blood of our parents which they transferred to us also carries both their spiritual rewards and punishments. If they have kept the covenant of God, then blessings and favor of God will be your portion. If they have walked in the ways of the wicked, you should expect the consequences of that choice until it is dealt with effectively.

Blood is compensated with blood. The ability of the blood to speak makes it a very dangerous thing to relate to. We see this in the blood of Abel.

And He said, what hast thou done? The voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto Me from the ground.” (Gen 4:10).

The spiritual realm responds to the voice of the blood swiftly. The voice of the blood can be heard even after centuries. Any sin or defilement of the blood carries severe consequences for many future generations.

Lev 17:11

“…for the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that makes an atonement for the soul.

The old foundation of my father’s house was built with blemished blood which cries out evil in our lives. Issues of blood in my father’s house resisted my breakthrough because they cried against me. I thank God for the blood of Jesus which is the token of my new foundation. We are now building a new firm foundation which is Christ Jesus.

1 Cor 3:11

For other foundations can no man lay than that is laid which is Jesus Christ.”

  1. Covenants

Families, clans, tribes, and nations are built on covenants. The covenants of my father’s house are crucial factors affecting my life. Covenants permit spiritual entities to gain access to the spiritual reserves of a family. Covenants are legal platforms for access and interaction. They allow for spiritual exchange.

The following are some types of covenants that we can find as foundations in our father’s house.

  1. blood covenants,

  2. marriage covenants

  3. allegiance covenants

  4. peer covenants

  5. worship covenants…etc.

The covenants that God endorses come with His blessings. Covenants with evil spiritual powers call for judgment from God, which comes in the form of a curse. We are either building on the foundation of a curse or a blessing depending on the covenants in our foundation.

Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse: the blessing if you obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day, and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the LORD your GOD, but turn aside from the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods which you have not known.” (Deu 11:26-28).

A covenant grants ownership. Ownership determines authority, power, and allegiance.

Exo 19:5-6

Now therefore, if you will obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my possession among all the peoples; for all the earth is mine, and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”

When we establish a holy nation with God, it makes Him the owner, builder, sustainer, protector, and administrator of our house. Remember, if God does not build the house, the builders build in vain. Who is the builder of your father’s house?

Psa 127:1

Unless the Lord builds the house,

They labor in vain who build it;

Unless the Lord guards the city,

The watchman stays awake in vain.

  1. Altars

Altars are gates and windows into families. Altars are tokens that determine the spiritual strength of a family. An Altar to a spiritual power is a habitation for such a power. Altars host spiritual entities who act as watchmen, strongmen, and rulers of a house. Any evil altar in my father’s house is a habitation for evil spirits in my foundation. If your father’s house is a dwelling place of demons because of evil altars, you will reap the works of demons.

Hos. 8:11

Because Ephraim has made many altars for sin, they have become for him altars for sinning.

Ask God to expose satanic altars in your father’s house. Take the prayer direction for “evil altars in my father’s house.” Endeavor to raise an altar to God in your father’s house. This is a quick way to deliverance.

  1. Sacrifices

Every sacrifice calls for a spiritual response. Every sacrifice to God calls for His intervention. Similarly, every sacrifice to satan calls for his response.

Households are built on the foundation of sacrifices.

Hos 8:13-14 NKJV

For the sacrifices of My offerings, they sacrifice flesh and eat it,

But the Lord does not accept them.

Now He will remember their iniquity and punish their sins.

They shall return to Egypt.

14 “For Israel has forgotten his Maker,

And has built]temples;

Judah also has multiplied fortified cities;

But I will send fire upon his cities,

And it shall devour his palaces.”

There are many types of sacrifices that we can off, the following are some examples:

  1. Animal sacrifices – for burnt offerings, peace offerings, sin offering

But in those sacrifices, there is a reminder of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins(Heb 10:3-4NKJV)

  1. Sacrifices for sin

In Burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin, You had no pleasure. (Heb 10:6NKJV)

  1. Sacrifice of Praise

Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, this is, the first fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. (Heb 13:15NKJV)

  1. Sacrifices of joy

And now shall mine head be lifted above mine enemies round about me: therefore I will offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy, I will, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord. (Psa 27:6)

  1. Sacrifices of good works

But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices, God is well pleased. (Heb 3:16NKJV)

  1. Characters and Personalities

Our fathers pass to us their personalities and character. We also consider such traits as foundation tokens. Families and households are known by certain character attributes. These characters flow from one generation to another.

Biblical Examples of Character Traits

Let us take the example of the man who had a great call but did not accomplish it because of what he had inherited from his father’s house.

The Life of Moses: He came from the tribe of Levi.

Exo 2:1-2 (NIV 1984)

Now a man of the house of Levi married a Levite woman, and she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. When she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him for three months.

What Levi received from his father worked in the life of Moses to affect his journey of destiny. What was it?

Gen 49:5-7 (NIV 1984)

Simeon and Levi are brothers —their swords are weapons of violence. Let me not enter their council, let me not join their assembly, for they have killed men in their anger and hamstrung oxen as they pleased. Cursed be their anger, so fierce, and their fury, so cruel! I will scatter them in Jacob and ~ disperse them in Israel.

Levi’s problem was anger which earned him a curse from his father, Jacob. In other words, we can say a man from the tribe of anger with a woman from the tribe of anger, bore Moses. Moses began to mess up his life when he killed an Egyptian in anger. This earned him forty years in self-exile.

Exo 2:11-12

And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting a Hebrew, one of his brethren. And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw there was no man, he slew the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.

Then later when the children of Israel put pressure on him in the wilderness, he struck the rock instead of speaking to it as God had commanded him. Therefore, God did not allow him to enter the Promised Land.

Num 20:7-12 (NIV 1984)

7 The Lord said to Moses, 8 “Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink.” 9 So Moses took the staff from the Lord’s presence, just as he commanded him. 10 He and Aaron gathered the assembly together in front of the rock and Moses said to them, “Listen, you rebels, must we bring you water out of this rock?” 11 Then Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank.

12 But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.”

Another time, Moses had in anger broken the stone tablets on which God Himself had written the Ten Commandments. He had to return to God for another forty days to get the duplicate of the law. You see, the first two tablets were made by God but the duplicate tablets, God commanded Moses to chisel the stones for God to write on them. Moses had to chisel out those stones as payment for his anger.

Deu 9:10; 15-17 (NIV 1984)

10 The Lord gave me two stone tablets inscribed by the finger of God. On them were all the commandments the Lord proclaimed to you on the mountain out of the fire, on the day of the assembly

5 So I turned and went down from the mountain while it was ablaze with fire. And the two tablets of the covenant were in my hands. 16 When I looked, I saw that you had sinned against the Lord your God; you had made for yourselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. You had turned aside quickly from the way that the Lord had commanded you. 17 So I took the two tablets and threw them out of my hands, breaking them to pieces before your eyes”.

Deu 10:1-2

At that time the Lord said to me, “Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones and come up to me on the mountain. Also, make a wooden ark. 2 I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. Then you are to put them in the ark.

You can see these character traits:

  1. To Moses, it was the curse of anger;

  2. To Solomon, it was adultery from his father David;

  3. To Isaac, it was telling lies/half-truths, as a character flaw inherited from his father Abraham.

What did you receive from your father’s hand?

Researching your father’s house

Take a few moments;

  1. to read the Scriptures on the next page

  2. To meditate on what God is saying

  3. Deu 29:4   Yet the Lord hath not given you a heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear unto this day.

  4. Ezk 12:2   Son of man, thou dwellest amid a rebellious house, which has eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear and hear not for they are a rebellious house.

  5. Mk 4:11-12   And he said unto them, “Unto you, it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: That seeing, they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.

Now take a few more minutes to prau these from your heart:

  1. Lord open my eyes that I may see the things you want me to see.

  2. Give me the grace to hear your voice clearly as you speak to me.

  3. May my heart be aligned with yours to perceive (understand) what I see and hear.

After you have prayed this prayer, believe that the Lord has heard you and has given you the grace to go on. I want to assure you, that grace will be necessary to effectively complete this exercise.

Now stand with authority and make the following declarations:

  1. Evil foundations in my lineage be exposed by fire, in the Name of Jesus.

  2. Just as when God took Ezekiel and showed him what the elders were doing in secret; let the Lord carry me to that place and see what was done in secret.

  3. All secrets promoting bondage in my father’s foundations be exposed now.

You will need to come back to these declarations from time to time. Remember, bondages are hidden (forgotten) secrets shrouded in mystery.

Take a hard look at your life and your Father’s house. Every seed when mature will produce fruit. Examine these fruits as they will help you to see clearly. Be honest and truthful with your assessment. Resist the urge to make excuses for the things you see. Get a pen and paper and prepare to write truths which are being revealed to you and the evidences that testify of them.

The Lord can use dreams and or speak to you directly. Alternatively, you can just ask people familiar with your father’s house. A thorough research will show you what is hidden under the foundations and weaknesses that are responsible for your bondages.

Here are some suggested starting points that indicate areas of bondage. Remember, you are including your family, siblings, parents, and their direct bloodline as far back as you can go.

Go through the list of questions below. A “Yes” answer to any of the questions is evidence of issues that must be dealt with in your foundation.

  1. Was there discord in your father’s house?

  2. Were there any chronic sicknesses from one generation to another?

  3. Were there any unhealthy addictions?

  4. Were there any cases of suicides?

  5. Was there any evidence of barrenness or premature death?

  6. Was there any evidence of witchcraft, occult, or new-age activities in any form?

  7. Were there childhood dedications to any god(s)?

  8. Was there devout commitment to other religions?

  9. Was there any trend of failed marriages or businesses

  10. Were there any cases of incest, rape, or other sexual abuse?

  11. Was there any record of murder by family members?

  12. Were there any deformed or retarded children?
